So what's the purpose of this blog? For people to submit art, writing, crafts, etc of their Fallout OCs!
How many people run this blog? It tends to fluctuate depending on how much time people have, but we currently have a few people currently joining efforts to keep the content flowing :D
Can I become a mod? At the moment, we don't have an opening for a mod position. If one becomes available, however, we'll put up a post!
I have a Fallout OC, but they're not a ghoul. Can I submit them? Of course! While most of the OCs you'll see here are ghouls, we also accept any OC from the Fallout universe, whether they be ghouls, smoothskins (smoothies!), synths, super mutants, dogs, cats, or even something more unusual!
How can I submit my character? A couple of ways! We tend to prefer if you post your character art/writing/etc on your own Tumblr, that way we can reblog it from you and give you notes! To send us the URL of your blog posts, just use our handy-dandy Submit Box!
You can also try tagging us or put @theghoulcrew in the body of your post, but Tumblr can sometimes be glitchy, so it's not a fullproof way.
What's the deal with the eldritch horror characters? Some of the ghoul crew peeps ended up creating them when discussing the Lovecraftian elements that are scattered throughout the Fallout world. Since there are several parts of Fallout that are heavily influenced by Lovecraft, it really seemed to make sense and fit. Why wouldn't a post-apocalyptic world bring out all the strange and unusual stuff, after all? They've become a welcome part of the community as much as the other OCs <3
Are you guys going to do any contests or any events? Right now, we tend to do an art commission giveaway every 100 followers we gain!
I have some NSFW art of one of my OCs. Can I submit it? That depends! Nudity, Sexual Situations, etc: When it comes to this sort of content, generally we'll reblog it as long as it's not straight up porn and does not depict non-consensual scenarios. We may place a 'NSFW' tag on more risque pieces, just to be on the safe side. It never hurts to send it to us, however - the worst we can say is 'sorry, that's a little too close to the line for us'. Blood, Gore, etc: Given the violent aesthetic of the Fallout universe ('bloody mess' perk, anyone?), this is normally accepted. We'll usually just place a 'gore cw' or 'blood cw' tag on these pieces. There may be some exceptions, but those will be a case-by-case basis. Offensive Content: Anything that is racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc will be rejected. We always accept the right to politely reject a piece if it makes any of our mods feel uncomfortable.
I submitted my character but I never saw it get posted/reblogged! Tumblr isn't a flawless system by any means. Sometimes things get overlooked or lost in transit. Other times, we've just put the post in question in our queue to prevent spamming dashboards and it simply hasn't cycled around yet. If you're ever wondering if it made its way through, just send us an ask or submit and we'll let you know if we saw it :) Usually we try to get stuff that's tagged or sent to our submit box posted within a week. If it's gone past that time, please feel free to poke at us - we won't bite! <3
What's going on with your Wiki page? We had something unexpected happen with our Wiki last year. Even though we required people to sign up in order to use it, the signup was automated. As a result, we got thousands upon thousands of bots signing up. These spambots would modify our pages trying to point to malware, porn, and other unpleasant things. We had to shut everything down temporarily. Some may be able to still access the Wiki, but others may have issues.
We do plan on fixing it eventually, but right now it's on the back burner. We may have to end up deleting and re-creating it to get rid of the spambot accounts, which is a headache. Don't worry - if we do that, we'll re-post anything that was put out there by our lovely followers and mods! We just need to figure out a better user creation system.
In the meantime, The Best Ghoulfriends Wiki that was created a couple of years back by @octopusblack is still around! It's not as active as it used to be and it does contain ads, but it's not a bad spot for you to put up info about your OCs. Another good tool to use is RP Repository, where some of our followers and mods have OC pages created!
Who did the art for the icon/background? Where can I find the full art? And whose characters are they? The icon/website logo is by @vectober and depicts their ghoul character, Toby Myers, and @monsterrpblog's ghoul character, Damon Queens. The full piece can be found here.
